This was so much fun to do, and certainly great for tricking people with. I have really long curly hair and my friends nearly had a heart attack when they saw what I had done. It’s super easy too, and keeps your hair out of your way. It gives me a kind of 1920’s vibe – I feel like I could put on a fancy dress and take tea at Downton Abbey.

The result is up above, and here’s how you get it!

What you need:

-Two hair ties
-Whatever product you usually use in your hair
-A headband (optional)
-Bobby pins

If you have curly hair like me start by washing it so it’s easy to work with. If you don’t need it to be wet to work with just brush it through.

Next, if you’re using a headband like I am (which I recommend) put it now. It’ll be really hard to put it in after you’ve pinned the bob up.

After you’ve done that, you’ll need to tie your hair into a loose ponytail with one of the hair-ties. However far down you tie it will be how long your bob is. Keep in mind that in this photo I’ve done it to the front so you can see – if you did it like this when attempting to do the faux bob hairdo it would be longer on one side then the other.

Now plait the end of your hair, then roll it up and secure everything with that second hair-tie. Then you need to tuck it underneath where you have tied the pony tail and pin it securely to your head. The plait should be hidden.

You might need to adjust it a little bit, which is easy enough with some tugging, but now you have a cute little faux bob!
